PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY OF GCHS STUDENTS As a student at Grundy County High School, you are expected to be aware of and to accept your individual responsibilities in the following areas. THE TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS You deserve the best instruction that Grundy County High School is capable of providing. For the effort of the teachers to be as successful as possible and for your to work and achieve to the best of your ability, you must cooperate with the teachers. PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS Each student is expected to show respect for the rights and feelings of fellow students and to behave in such a way as to draw the respect of others. Courteous treatment is encouraged. Tolerance of differing beliefs and appearance is essential. Dangerous practices such as pushing or scuffling are discourage. Hazing is strictly prohibited. Students are expected to obey instructions from any school employee who is in the performance of his/her duty and to address all adult staff members with respectful word and tone. "Yes" or "No" is preferred over "yeah". Students are responsible to all teachers at all times. Teachers have supervisory responsibilities in all areas of the campus while at school. Whether observers, speakers, or entertainers, official visitors are considered to be honored guests and will be treated with courtesy and respect. Displays of affection tend to destroy reputations and to embarrass others and therefore will not be condoned. Student relationships would be private. Teachers are expected to encourage their students to behave in a manner that is not distasteful to other students and adults. Therefore, our policy at school will be "HANDS-OFF". This means NO kissing, hugging, holding hands, touching or physical contact of any nature. SCHOOL PRIDE Grundy County High School is YOUR school and a reflection of all GCHS students. Take pride in your school and help to keep it clean. RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS You will be held responsible only for the things YOU do or fail to do. What others do or do not do is of little importance in determining whether or not you have accepted your responsibility as a student-citizen of Grundy County High School. If you choose to follow bad examples set by a few of the other students at Grundy County Hight School, you will be held responsible for your actions and your actions only. The decision will be yours, and so will the consequences. Your first responsibility is to decide how you should conduct yourself while you are at school. Your second responsibility is to be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions.
